A brand new “Art of Star Wars” book has been confirmed by Dark Horse Books and Lucasfilm and will be focusing on the world of animated TV series, Star Wars: Rebels.
It will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry that went into the animated show, including never-before-seen concept art and process pieces along with exclusive commentary from Star Wars: Rebels‘ creators Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Carrie Beck provided by writer Dan Wallace.
Star Wars: Rebels debuted back in 2014, on October 3rd, marking the first new animated series with Lucasfilm officially under Disney’s ownership and would run for four seasons. The show introducing us to the crew of the Ghost ship, a rebel cell made up of former Jedi Padawan Kanan and his Force-sensitive protege Ezra, ace pilot Hera, Mandalorian graffiti artist Sabine, bruiser Zeb, and grumpy astromech droid Chopper. As the series went on, it saw appearances from Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with Clone Wars fan-favourites Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. Including the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn from Legends to Canon. All set between the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode VI: A New Hope.
Filoni the creator behind the series, taking everything he learned on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and applying it to a new set of characters in an unexplored period of time that some fans and audience members not familiar with the “Dark Times” in Legends were unfamiliar with.
Also coming later this year is the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, resulting in many fans to speculate if we could see Rebels characters make an appearance in that series, such as Kanan. As it has been said that the finale arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: “Siege of Mandalore” will take place before and during the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, including Order 66.
The Art of Star Wars Rebels goes on sale October 1st for $39.99 and is now available for pre-order.
