This April Star Wars fans from around the world will be coming together for the 13th Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. While the biggest announcement will be that of Star Wars: Episode IX & the first live action Star Wars television series The Mandalorian, there are many other things to look forward to during the five day event.
Such as meeting some of the actors and talent behind cinemas greatest saga.
Fans will be able meet the towering 6-foot-11 Joonas Suotamo, the actor behind the mighty Wookiee hero Chewbacca, when he makes his Star Wars Celebration debut at this year’s Celebration.
The Finland native, who has donned the walking carpet costume in Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Episode VIII The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story and will be portraying Chewie once again for Episode IX. Since 2017 Suotamo has been portraying everyone’s favourite Wookiee, as original Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew has grown too old for the physically demanding role.
Suotamo is just one of many Star Wars actors and Celebration first timers joining fans for the ultimate Star Wars event this spring.
Fans will also get a chance to meet Star Wars voice actor Sam Witwer, who brought Maul to life in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and recently as the voice and other half of the horn-headed Zabrak to Ray Park’s performance in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Fans will also note that Witwer also portrayed Darth Vader’s secret apprentice Starkiller in the now “Legends” Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games.
Joining Suotamo and Witwer are Greg Grunberg, who has brought Resistance X-wing pilot Snap Wexley to the screen in Episode VII: The Force Awakens, will also be there alongside: Dave Chapman, the puppeteer who has helped bring BB-8, Rio Durant, and Lady Proxima to life in the sequel trilogy and Solo: A Star Wars Story; Greg Proops, who has lent his voice most recently to Star Wars Resistance as Jak Sivrak and Garma, and previously voiced Fode in Episode I: The Phantom Menace; Paul Kasey, who played Admiral Raddus in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Ello Asty in The Force Awakens; Ian McElhinney, who played General Dodonna in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story; and Orli Shoshan, Shaak Ti in Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
But the list of actors and talent wasn’t the only thing LucasFilm announced, as with every Star Wars Celebration, a new Poster for the event was revealed. Bridging the Prequel, Original and Sequel Trilogies protagonists and antagonists together:
Fans will also be able to take a stroll through Artist Alley, which will be home to some familiar creators and new faces this year: Malcom Tween, Darren Tan, Jason Christman, Zoltan Simon, Joey Spiotto, Brian Miller, Matt Busch, Chris Trevas, Karen Hallion, Adrianna Vanderstelt, Danny Haas, Jason Palmer, Spencer Brinkerhoff, Kaela Croft, Brandon Kenney, Russell Walks, Dianne Harrop, Kayla Woodside, Alex Buechel, Cryssy Cheung, Steve Anderson, Brian DeGuire, Chris Dee, Michael Pasquale, Cat Staggs, Jerry Vanderstelt, and Brian Rood.
As we get closer to April, more details on Star Wars Celebration Chicago will come to light. As we’ll most likely be getting some surprises dropping by the event.
