Rumour: ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian’ Footage Could Debut During Disney+ Demo on April 11th

All right. Once again, this is rumour control. Here are the facts. A report regarding Disney’s first demonstration of its new streaming service, Disney+, apparently will be taking place on April 11th, which coincidentally happens to be the day Star Wars Celebration kicks off in Chicago.  The convention will be held in 3 months time on Thursday the11th through to Sunday 15th at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. This years Celebration will hosted by Warwick Davis and will be the longest Star Wars Celebration to date since Celebration IV, with a total of a five-day span.

Todd Spangler, the digital editor for Variety, tweeted, “Disney says it will demo Disney+ at its investor day on April 11th, including first look at some of the original content for the SVOD service”

Now it is very likely we’ll be getting a look at the series during this year’s Star Wars Celebration, with the above Tweet does give it weight, along with the dates. Though take it with a grain of salt. Spangler only says “some of the original content” He doesn’t Tweet what is actually is. Though it has been said that The Mandalorian’s premiere will coincide with the launch of Disney+, making the anticipated series the flagship series of the upcoming streaming service. So it does make sense to have what is being said to be the “flapship series” be part of this first look.

Again though, we’ll probably be seeing something to do with The Mandalorian during Celebration. The schedule of events has yet to be announced, but you can bet there will be panels on:

  • Star Wars: Episode IX
  • Star Wars The Clone Wars
  • The Mandalorian
  • Galaxies Edge
  • Upcoming Books & Comics

Hopefully we’ll be able to also hear news and information on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the Cassian Andor Prequel Series, Rian Johnson’s Spin Off Trilogy and the David Benioff and D. B. Weiss series of films as well.

The Mandalorian will star Pedro Pascal (Narcos & Game of Thrones), Gina Carano (Deadpool), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator Rocky I – IV), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), and Nick Nolte (Warrior).
