It looks like we can expect some big things from Episode IX, according to John Boyega, who hinted on Instagram with a dramatic photo yesterday, saying:
“I’ve had many moments of shock on set but not like today and I can’t wait until you know why.”
If you look closely at his hands, you can see they are quite dirty and there is drop of blood on his thumb. I think (and this is me merely speculating) this hints towards the death of a major character, with a quite literal motif: HE has blood on his hands; his hands are dirty.
Has someone died at the hands of Finn?
It’s worth noting as well that, on this post, Boyega chose to use the hashtag #FN2187 which, many fans will know, is Finn’s Storm Trooper ID. Does this mean the post links directly to Boyega’s character? Only after we’ve seen the film will we know how crucially significant this post was. Take this intriguing sentence:
“The whole team pushed themselves today to achieve something visually crazy!”
Now (this is still my own speculation!) the words “visually crazy” and the phrase “the whole team pushed themselves”, that Boyega used, may have more meaning than just hyperbole. If we follow the pattern of the motion capture technology that has been implemented throughout the films since the Disney revival, we have seen both the late Carrie Fischer and Peter Cushing digitally reprised in their original roles. Therefore, I don’t think it’s out of the question that we could expect something within that territory.
Either way, I’m confident Abrams will bring something exciting to the table.
