Today the Official LucasFilm site StarWars.com announced that Swedish film composer, Ludwig Göransson will be composing The Mandalorian, the first ever Star Wars live action television series.
Göransson has composed soundtracks for both film and television, including some of the biggest films in recent times such as: Marvel’s Black Panther (for which he has earned Golden Globe Award and Grammy nominations), Creed along with this year’s sequel Creed II, Venom, and Fruitvale Station.
In television where he got his big break, he composed the soundtrack for the hit series Community, which stars Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Donald Glover who portrayed a young Lando Calrissian in the anthology film. Speaking of Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino, both he and Ludwig Göransson have been working together for many years now since 2010, on such albums as: Culdesac, EP, Camp, Because the Internet, Kauai, “Awaken, My Love!”and of cource this years runaway hit, “This is America”.
“Words fail to express how surreal and humbling it feels to be invited into the Star Wars universe, I am deeply grateful to Jon Favreau and Disney for this opportunity and to John Williams for raising the bar so high with his iconic, intrepid scores — they will never be matched. In these next months I hope to honor the tradition of Star Wars’ musical landscape while propelling The Mandalorian into new and unchartered territory. And I will try to remember that there is no try.”
