Deadline yesterday reported that Stephen Schiff has been tapped to be executive producing and show running LucasFilms 2nd Live Action TV Show for Disney+ that will serve as a Prequel to the 2016 film, Rogue One. Detailing the adventures of Rebel Spy Cassian Andor during the early years of the Rebellion.
This wouldn’t be the first time Schiff has dabbled in the espionage/spy genre, due to his work as a writer and executive producer on FX’s show “The Americans”, which was about a husband and wife posing as Americans, but who are really Russian spies. With the show being considered to be one the best show on TV before it concluded earlier this year.
This is good. Because the Rebellion, at least in it’s early days was not considered a huge threat and was seen as more of a nuisance. It wasn’t the clashing of armies, but hit and run attacks, espionage, theft, sabotage and so on. The Galactic Civil War hadn’t begun as of yet. But conflict was brewing. With this Cassian Andor Prequel Series, we could be getting something like an old “Cold War Thriller” It’s also the chance to view the Star Wars Galaxy in a different light.
I do hope we get to see self-aware and sarcastic K-2SO turn up during the series and see the begins of his and Cassian’s friendship. More K2 is always good.
