Episodic Directors For ‘The Mandalorian’ Revealed, Along With First Official Image

Yesterday, Jon Favreau revealed over on his Instagram the Title and a short synopsis of his upcoming TV Series: The Mandalorian. Stating that the series will be set years after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Mentioning warriors like that of Jango Fett and Boba Fett, while revealing that of “another warrior” who will most likely be the series protagonist.

Today (well last night for, once again just before going to sleep) the official Star Wars Site, along with it’s Facebook and Twitter Page released the first image of “The Mandalorian” along with some details.

Beautiful, isn’t it? Personally I’m getting a Fistful of Dollars vibe from this, along with what images we saw of Boba Fett from 1313. Remember that? It looks like something out of a western. And it looks like they’ve spared no expense, despite it being for TV, they aren’t dropping the quality, the costume and set piece look like they belong in a movie. Hey, with Disney Dollars behind you, you can do it.

Along with the image the official Star Wars Site, StarWars.com also revealed the list of directors that will be taking on directing duties for the individual episodes. Confirming:

  • Dave Filoni – Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: Resistance.
  • Taika Waititi – Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
  • Rick Famuyiwa – Dope.
  • Bryce Dallas Howard – Solemates
  • Dehorah Chow – Jessica Jones

It was also revealed that the series will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Colin Wilson and LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy, while also being co-executive produced by Karen Gilchrist. The Mandalorian will premiere next year on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

Exciting times. If you told me as a kid that one day Star Wars would be on TV, I wouldn’t have believed it, my how times have changed.
