All right. Once again, this is rumour control. Here are the facts. While DICE/EA hasn’t official revealed that yet, a new post on Reddit has leaked a bit of a road map that reveals quite a bit of new content that’ll be coming to Battlefront II over the next few months. Here are the details in regards to the road map.
September – Improved Squad System Arrives
The new squad system, which will be set up next month in September in the Galactic Assault, Skirmish and Smash modes, will allow players to reappear near their squad members. The squad system was designed to encourage team play in Star Wars Battlefront II.
The 91th Corps Recognition Mobile and the 10th Battalion Wolfpack will also land in September. Additional clone soldier appearances join the ranks of the Galactic Republic.
October – All About General Grievous
The first of the heroes (or should we say villains) was announced at EA Play, that being the fiendish Supreme Commander of the Droid Army, General Grievous, who will be making his debut later this year in October. The general of the droid army will join his confreres on the dark side, with the intention of adding more Jedi Lightsabers to his collection. (Eye’s on Kenobi’s)
November – The month of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Geonosis
Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi will join the ranks of the light side of the Force a month after Grievous in November. Obi-Wan will be able to use his heroic powers in our newest Galactic Assault map, Geonosis (which is said to be DICE’s largest Battlefront II map). This new map, will also be available in November.
The Clone Soldiers of the 212th Attack Battalion will also disembark around the same time in the form of soldier appearances of the Galactic Republic. These soldiers are known to have helped Obi-Wan track General Grievous, appearing in white and yellow armour.
December – Count Dooku, New Large-Scale Mode, Anakin Skywalker and more
Count Dooku, Yoda’s former Padawan who turned to the darkside out of thirst for power and being the public face of the Separatist movement. To counter the darkside, you’ll also have Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker joining the Heroes of Star Wars Battlefront II.
The Guard of Coruscant: This elite division of clone soldiers, originally destined to maintain peace on Coruscant, the capital planet of the Republic, will also be available in the form of soldier appearances of the Galactic Republic. These troopers appear in white and red armour.
And as if that were not enough, there will be a new non-linear sandbox mode for Star Wars Battlefront II. In this mode, two teams compete for the possession of control points to destroy the enemy admiral vessels. Which sounds rather fun, destroying each others capital ships. Now while this is all very detailed and, if it pans out, quite exciting. Remember this has not been made official by DICE yet, this is only a rumoured leak; and on top of that, there are several grammatical errors in the statement. So just in case, take some of this with a grain of salt.
It is confirmed that Heroes (and Villains) such as Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, General Grievous and Count Dooku WILL be included later in upcoming updates.
Hopefully DICE/EA will announce something soon on this leak. Until then, we just have to wait.
