New ‘Star Wars: Resistance’ Art Revealed At Disney Event

New art designs for the upcoming animated series Star Wars: Resistance have just been revealed at this years Disney France Partners Event.  During the presentation, a slide featuring two drawings of several of the main characters from both the Resistance (right) and the First Order (left).

This at least gives us an idea on the animation style the series will have. Dave Filoni has said that there will be a anime-inspired style to the series, which can be seen in the art. An educated guess would say that the centre character of the Resistance side is that of Kazuda Xiono, would will be the series protagonist. And what looks like (maybe mistaken) Poe Dameron standing behind him.

So if the central character of the Resistance is that of the protagonist, the central character of the First Order (Captain Phasma) will most likely be the series antagonist.

Speaking of the First Order, you might be able to notice a red stormtrooper standing next to what appears to be Captain Phasma (who will be voiced by Gwendoline Christie).  Some Fans are already speculating that this could be the character Cardinal who made his first appeared in the novel Star Wars: Phasma by Delilah S. Dawson.

Cardinal, also known as CD-0922 or Archex, held the military rank of Captain in the First Order. A loyal adherent of the tenets, CD-0922 eventually became a captain and was put in charge of stormtrooper physical training. His skills were spoken of with high regard even by Supreme Leader Snoke. CD-0922 was presented with a personalised set of red stormtrooper armour and given the name Cardinal by Hux. But would develop a rivalry with Phasma is role as head trainer was to be split with Phasma, who would focus on training the teenage and adult stormtroopers. This jealousy increased a year later, when Phasma received her own personalised armour. (Okay, that was your quick little insight).

As of this time, not much is known about about the upcoming series, which will debut this autumn. What is know was released by the Official LucasFilm site StarWars.com three months ago. That the series will take place before the events of Episode VII: The Force Awakens, telling of the adventures of Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by General Leia Organa’s Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. The series will feature a wide range of new characters along with the beloved BB-8, Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma voiced by actors Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie.

Joining Oscar and Gwendoline, the voice cast includes actors Christopher Sean (Days of Our Lives), Suzie McGrath (East Enders), Scott Lawrence (Legion), Myrna Velasco (Elena of Avalor), Josh Brener (Silicon Valley), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Bobby Moynihan (DuckTales), Jim Rash (Community), and Rachel Butera (Tammy’s Tiny Tea Time).

This will have to be our Star Wars fix for a while until next December.
